FAQ

what is baltic amber?

Baltic amber is fossilised tree resin formed around 40–50 million years ago in the Baltic region. It is valued for its natural beauty, warm colours, high succinic acid content and long history in jewellery making.

What is the difference between Amber and Baltic Amber?

Amber is fossilised tree resin, but Baltic amber is especially valued for its natural beauty, rich colour variety, and higher succinic acid content. It has been used in jewellery for centuries and is known as one of the most sought-after types of amber. Amber Buddy uses genuine Baltic amber in all of its jewellery

Where do you get your Balitc Amber?

Amber Buddy is a family operation. We source our Baltic amber primarily by collecting it from the shores of the Baltic Sea, as well as from Poland and Ukraine. Once the amber is collected and properly prepared for crafting, it is given to an artisan in our family who then makes the jewellery by hand.

Why should I buy from Amber Buddy?

Amber Buddy is a family-run business with a legacy of working with Baltic amber since the 1950s. Because we handle production in-house, we can offer a wide range of unique designs that are hard to find anywhere else. You can learn more on our About Us page.

How is Amber Buddy Jewelry made?

Amber Buddy jewellery is made by hand through a careful process that includes washing, clipping, grinding, polishing, drilling, colour sorting, stringing, and quality control. Each bead is tied with a knot between it and the next, which helps make the jewellery stronger and means that if it ever breaks, only one bead is likely to come loose rather than all of them.

How do I use Amber Buddy’s Jewelry?

Amber Buddy necklaces are designed to be worn around the neck, and bracelets can be worn on the wrist or ankle. Never allow your child to chew, lick, or place the jewellery in their mouth.

How does wearing amber jewelry work?

It is believed that body heat warms the amber and releases succinic acid, which may then be absorbed through the skin. This is why many people wear Baltic amber jewellery as part of their everyday routine.

Is your jewelry safe?

Amber Buddy jewellery is designed for children over the age of 3 as well as adults. Each bead is separated by a knot for added safety, so if the jewellery breaks, only one bead is likely to come loose. Never allow the jewellery to be placed in the mouth, and adult supervision is required at all times.

How long will my Amber Buddy jewelry last?

With proper care, Amber Buddy jewellery is made to last. Each bead is hand-strung and double knotted for extra durability, and keeping it away from sleeping, soaps, and other chemicals will help extend its life.

Which color should I choose?

Amber comes in a variety of natural colors. Our Baltic amber is 100% genuine regardless of the color you choose. Select the color and style that appeals to you the most!

What are the sizes of the beads?

The beauty of Amber Buddy’s jewellery is that we keep our products natural in the handmaking process. Each piece is unique because the amber bead sizes vary. In our production, we use bead sizes from 4–6 mm for children’s collection and 5–10 mm for adult jewellery. Bead sizes are identified in each product description to give you a guide to go by.
